To dear Mum
It is four years today that you left me, and every day I still think of you and miss you. Your laburnum tree is growing well in the Park, and people sit on your bench every day - these things are a comfort to me. Since you died, I have made my career change and graduated with a degree in dementia care, and I now have a full-time job supporting other people, like you, who face all the challenges of living with dementia. It helps me to know that I am making a difference to all of these people and their families, because I can no longer help you. I have tried to bring something good out of the tragedy of what dementia did to you, because it is all I can do now. I hope that somehow you know that I do this as a tribute to you, my dear little Mum, because I love you.
