Dear Mum,
It was my first birthday without you to say happy birthday to me today, but I sat on your bench in the park in the sunshine, and I know that somehow you were still wishing me happy birthday, from wherever you are. Your tree in the park is just beginning to put out its first shoots and I like to look at it every day when I pass. I think of you every day, and you are not forgotten at all - as I study for my Bachelor in Dementia Care degree every day, I think of you all the time, as it is my love for you which inspires me to take this new path. I had a good birthday today, because I have to have a brave soul even without my dear Mum. I love you xxx
