Dear Mum It is now just a few days before Christmas, and I am trying to keep cheerful and cherish the happy memories I have of the Christmas holidays last year - I remember the Christmas party where we sang carols, and taking a big cracker full of chocolates to give to your carers! I remember taking you two chocolate Santas, and of watching the Strictly final as we ate them. I remember that you were in the lounge a lot, with the other residents and the lovely big silver Christmas tree. I was glad that you seemed to be so settled in the care home, and that all the decorations were so lovely! I remember decorating your own room for you, too, and how you loved the little tree I bought you. On this day last year I had a horrible streaming cold, and was so worried that the nurses would not let me in to visit you, but by Christmas Eve it was thankfully better, and I remember taking all your presents up and putting them on your chair so that you would find them when you woke up. The next days will be difficult, but I have my darling little cats Esme and Trudi beside me and so I am not alone - they are my little family and I love them so dearly. My dear Mum - I love you so much and I hope that you know this, especially at Christmas. Margaret xxxxxxx
